Which Renovation Stage For Finalizing Window Dressing?

Finalization Stage For Window Dressing

To determine which stage to finalize your window dressing is important.

During house renovation, dust and small particles will stick on curtain fabrics. Some house owners are not aware of the issue involved or do not know that such incident will occur. You would not want your fabric to get contaminated, affecting health and wellness. Therefore, here are some simple guides for reference before putting up your curtain.

First Step:

Installation of Plaster Ceiling & Floor Tiles

In most cases before the installation of plaster ceiling, electrician will arrange first fix for the wiring of lights, air-conditioning, fans etc. Measurements of the plaster ceiling to install your curtains will be determined as well. Plaster ceiling will then be installed to conceal the wiring.

Installing floor tiles take a long process too as it requires measurement of the square footage, cutting the tiles, spreading a layer of mortar and a long duration for it to dry. The whole process will be messy, post cleaning needed to be done after drying out.

Second Step:

Wall Painting

Once the plaster ceiling and floor tiles installation completed, you will need to start painting the confirmed wall colours. The duration of wall painting depending on the size of your living room, bedroom, kitchen, etc. The bigger the area, the longer duration it will take.

Third Step:

Cabinet

After the walls are painted with your favourite colours, cabinet mounting is the next step. The drilling and nailing of the cabinet will generate high level of dust pollution. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid putting up furniture prior to this stage. It’s difficult to clean those wood dust which have attached onto fabrics.

Fourth Step:

Furniture

Once all the post renovation deep cleaning has been done, you may start moving in your furniture. Diffusing some aroma or arranging air filtration system for your new space is helpful to clear off the odour of wood or painting.

Last Step:

Curtains

At the final stage of completing almost 80% of your home reno, you may start putting up your curtains. One of the most important reason to have the curtain following all others is to avoid dust and chemical odours sticking onto soft furnishing fabrics. Colourless gas odour like formaldehyde released from building materials & furniture not only stick-on curtains, causing unpleasant smell lingering in the space. Pro-long exposure to formaldehyde will cause health hazards such as cancer.

Once window furnishing is done, your new home is completed! You may now throw a housewarming party to celebrate your new home! But of course, after the Covid lockdown!
